Our cider making is a family & friends love affair and we welcome anyone who would like to join in the fun of the event either apple picking, loading, barrelling or pressing. We have many people interested in making a holiday of the occasion so several bed & breakfast and facilities are available this includes Flint Cottage at Hawkins Rough Orchard Cork Farm.

In addition we live very close to several historic villages including Bodsham, Chilham and Petham with other accommodation, pubs and friends. Claire & Bruce at Badgers Hill farm shop, Chilham, was one of the first places in Kent to revive the Kent traditional cider making over 25 years ago.

Simon, co-partner of Rough Old Wife Cider also runs traditional cider or cyder making courses for interested amateurs wanting to get more out of there own apples. Due to popular demand courses for are being held in several locations: At the Cidery, Brogdale School of Artisan Food and Assington Mill see websites for more details. You can also contact him directly on rougholdwife@btinternet.com for course agenda, availability and pricing. The Orchard is also pollinated by his own bees which produce a great bi-product, namely honey! This is sold under the Petham Vale Honey label and can be purchased from him directly or is available in East Kent at certain farmshops. See the website www.thebeeman.co.uk for more details.
